As part of the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the internal audit of the Central Bank, former Central Bank Deputy Governor Emrah Şener, who was arrested along with 8 others after a public loss exceeding 100 million TL was identified at BKM, in which he is a major shareholder, has been released under judicial control. Şener's signature is found on 200 TL banknotes.
Following the criminal complaint filed by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), former Deputy Governor Emrah Şener, who was arrested as part of the investigation, has been released under judicial control conditions.
FORMER CENTRAL BANK DEPUTY GOVERNOR RELEASED
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that irregularities were detected in the "Chip Plastic Card Purchase Tender" and "Specification and Applet Software Development Tender for Troy," which took place in 2023 at BKM, where the CBRT is the main shareholder, after filing a complaint. The investigation is ongoing.
Emrah Şener, who was arrested as part of the investigation, was released by the peace criminal court under judicial control conditions, including "prohibition of leaving the residence" and "prohibition of leaving the country."
ARRESTED ON OCTOBER 10
Şener was detained during an operation conducted on October 10 as part of the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and was arrested at the courthouse he was brought to.
