53 terrorists in 2021 have surrendered through persuasion efforts.
Another PKK terrorist surrendered in Turkey as a result of persuasion efforts by security forces, the Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday.
The ministry said the terrorist actively operated in Iraq and joined the terror group in 2012. But fled through coordinated persuasion efforts of gendarmerie and police teams and surrendered to security forces.
That brings to 53 the number of terrorists in 2021 who have laid down their weapons through persuasion efforts.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
