ESCAPED FROM POLICE CONTROL, INJURED COLLEAGUES
On October 29, 2021, teams from the Konya Police Department's Narcotic Crimes Division conducted an operation on the Ereğli road. The vehicle driven by police officer Cumhur A., who was on duty at the Yüreğir District Police Department, was attempted to be stopped.
It was determined that Cumhur A. had previously served in Adana Narcotics, and he tried to escape during the identity check. The suspect, who hit police officer Y.N. with his car at the checkpoint, fled but was caught shortly after. Two police officers were injured during the scuffle that ensued during the capture.
24 KILOS AND 600 GRAMS OF HEROIN AND GUNS SEIZED
During the chase, 24 kilograms and 600 grams of heroin in 48 pieces and 2 guns were seized, which the suspect had thrown onto the road. Cumhur A. and his wife N.A. were taken into custody. While the police officer was arrested, his wife was released under judicial control to be tried without detention.
INVESTIGATION DEEPENED, PROSECUTOR ALSO ARRESTED
Due to the suspect being a police officer, the teams deepening the investigation found a connection between prosecutor O.Y., who was on duty at the Terror Crimes Investigation Office in Adana, and drug trafficking.
In three separate operations, 43 kilograms and 600 grams of drugs were seized, and a total of 21 people were taken into custody. Prosecutor O.Y. was suspended from duty.
SEVERE CHARGES FOR 21 DEFENDANTS
At the end of the investigation, a case was opened against 21 defendants, 10 of whom were arrested, on charges of establishing and being a member of an organization for the purpose of committing a crime and trafficking or supplying drugs or stimulants, with prison sentences ranging from 19 years to 48 years.

HAD RECEIVED AN AWARD FROM THE GOVERNOR FOR FIGHTING DRUGS
It was revealed that Cumhur A., who was sentenced to 26 years and 3 months in prison, was awarded by the then Governor of Adana for capturing suspects in an operation against drug traffickers on March 20, 2019.
Among the other defendants tried in the case, 11 people received prison sentences ranging from 12 years and 2 months to 26 years and 3 months.
