In Tokat, footage has emerged showing 31-year-old Hatice Yalman, who is alleged to have been killed by Mustafa Koç, with whom she was living in a religious marriage, making a gesture to the cashier in a market two hours before the incident. This gesture is recognized in international literature as a call for help, but the store employee did not understand it.

In Tokat, following a report of a motorcycle accident on March 29, teams that went to Akşemsettin Street found Hatice Yalman and Mustafa Koç injured. Yalman was taken to Tokat State Hospital but unfortunately could not be saved despite all interventions and passed away.

BRUISES FOUND ON HER BODY

During the examination, bruises were detected on Yalman's body that were not related to the accident. Bloodied stones were found by the Hazine stream, located 400 meters from the scene. When it was understood that the blood traces on the stones belonged to Yalman, a murder investigation was initiated, and Mustafa Koç, who was detained as a murder suspect, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.

7 SUSPECTS DETAINED FOR 'AID'

As part of the investigation conducted by the police teams, 7 more people were detained on the charge of aiding Mustafa Koç. The suspects were released by the court under judicial control conditions.

FIRST TIME IN FRONT OF A JUDGE

Following the investigation conducted by the Tokat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an indictment was prepared against Mustafa Koç for 'qualified intentional murder', and against the other 7 individuals for 'participation in intentional murder' and 'destruction of evidence'. The defendants appeared before a judge for the first time yesterday. The first hearing, held by the Tokat 3rd High Criminal Court, was attended by detained defendant Mustafa Koç, other defendants, and relatives of the deceased Hatice Yalman along with their lawyers.

During the hearing, detained defendant Mustafa Koç, who is married and a father of three, claimed that he had been living with Hatice Yalman under religious marriage for 4.5 years, that he was intoxicated on the day of the incident, and that a dispute arose between them over infidelity. Koç stated that he passed out due to alcohol and when he came to, he found Yalman covered in blood, and that they had an accident while he was taking her on the motorcycle. Other defendants also denied the accusations. The court decided to maintain the current status of the defendants and adjourned the hearing to February 13, 2026, for the prosecution's opinion to be submitted.

"HATICE WAS BRUTALLY MURDERED"

Selinay Arslan, the lawyer for the Yalman family, stated after the hearing, "Hatice Yalman is not a simple victim of intentional murder disguised as an accident. Hatice Yalman was brutally and savagely murdered. Before she was murdered, she made the sign that is recognized as a call for help in international literature. She made this sign 2 hours before she was murdered," she said.
