Former U.S. President Bill Clinton and his wife announced that they will not go to testify in the congressional investigation regarding billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in prison while being prosecuted for allegedly running a prostitution ring involving underage girls.

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton issued a written statement regarding the Epstein investigation, in which their names were also mentioned.

BILL CLINTON AND HILLARY CLINTON WILL NOT TESTIFY

In the statement, the Clinton couple indicated that they would not comply with the subpoena sent to them in the congressional investigation related to the Epstein case and would not go to testify.

Describing the subpoena sent by the House Oversight Committee as a "document aimed at sending them to jail," the Clintons stated that they would therefore not go to testify.

Bill and Hillary Clinton argued that the efforts of the committee, controlled by Republicans, to prepare a "contempt of Congress case" against them were legally completely invalid, following the Republican lawmakers' actions.

Committee Chairman Republican James Comer stated that despite the Clintons not coming to testify, they were preparing to file charges of "contempt of Congress."

JEFFREY EPSTEIN CASE

Epstein, who was charged with sexually abusing dozens of girls under the age of 18, including the youngest being 14, and establishing a prostitution network, was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, New York, on August 10, 2019.

The disclosed Epstein case files included famous names such as Prince Andrew, U.S. President Donald Trump, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, actor Kevin Spacey, singer Michael Jackson, illusionist David Copperfield, lawyer Alan Dershowitz, and former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.

The FBI also stated that as a result of its investigation with the U.S. Department of Justice, it found no evidence of a "client list" consisting of famous individuals, and concluded that Epstein, who was alleged to have been murdered to cover up the crimes of individuals including government officials, celebrities, and businesspeople, actually committed suicide in his cell.
