In Ankara, 2 out of 3 pregnant goats that were kidnapped from an animal rights association were slaughtered. According to allegations, 3 pregnant goats belonging to an animal rights association operating in the capital were kidnapped late last night. 3 individuals, alleged to be butchers, took the animals from their habitat and slaughtered 2 of them. After preparing the goats for sale, the individuals were caught by the police. While it was learned that 2 of the kidnapped goats were slaughtered, one goat was found alive.
"We found the individuals who kidnapped our goats" Berzan Özkan, who claims to be the president of an animal rights association in Ankara, stated, "Late last night, 3 pregnant goats were kidnapped from the area where we rescued goats from slaughter under difficult conditions. After reviewing the camera footage in our habitat, we reported the moment the goats were kidnapped to the police station. Accompanied by the police, we found the individuals who kidnapped our goats. They were caught while trying to sell 2 of our pregnant goats after slaughtering them. They did not accept their guilt in any way, but since the prosecutor granted a search warrant, we were able to reach our goats that way. They had not slaughtered one of our goats that was 5-6 days away from giving birth, and we reached it safely. We also found the lifeless bodies of 2 of our goats," he said. "WE IDENTIFIED THE INDIVIDUALS FROM SECURITY CAMERA FOOTAGE"Özkan stated that they rescued the goats to keep them away from death and added: "We have 350 street dogs with us. We rescued them so they can live together with them. Our police teams showed that a butcher in the capital was trying to steal our animals for sale. They have now been referred to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. They will appear before a judge today. To hold them accountable, we are in front of the Ankara Courthouse with local animal protection officers, animal lovers, and other association presidents. There were 3 individuals. One of them is our former staff member, and the other is a new employee of the butcher. This butcher had already come to our habitat and introduced himself well. He was bringing bones for the dogs. I thought he was well-intentioned, so I didn't cause any trouble during his comings and goings, but at 01:46, they entered our habitat from the back and stole our 3 pregnant goats. We identified the individuals through the security camera footage and reached them."
