A family that came to a bungalow in the Sapanca district of Sakarya for a weekend holiday discovered a hidden camera disguised as a light bulb in the facility, leading to the arrest of the business owner Hüseyin K. (31) and his friend Tansel S. (48). An indictment was prepared against them, seeking a prison sentence of 1 year and 6 months to 4 years and 6 months for the crime of 'violating the privacy of private life.'

On March 30, the family that rented a bungalow in the Sapanca district noticed a hidden camera concealed inside a light bulb that overlooked the entire bedroom and jacuzzi area of the structure. The family went to the police to file a complaint. Upon receiving the report, police teams arrived at the address and conducted an investigation at the facility. All digital materials belonging to the business owner were seized. Teams that initiated a study on the matter detained business owner Hüseyin K. and his friend Tansel S. The two suspects, whose statements were taken, were arrested and sent to prison.

He had reset his phone

The indictment prepared regarding the incident was accepted by the Sapanca Criminal Court of First Instance. The indictment requested that the two suspects be punished with a prison sentence of 1 year and 6 months to 4 years and 6 months for the crime of 'violating the privacy of private life.' The indictment stated that during the examination of Hüseyin K.'s mobile phone conducted by the Cyber Crime Fighting Branch, it was noted that the phone had been reset and the data deleted before being handed over by the suspect. It was stated that a photo of the hidden camera attached to the white light bulb, which was seized in the bungalow, was found in the suspect's mobile phone and taken on March 7.

Moreover, it was determined that there was an application on the suspect's phone that allowed live viewing of the camera recordings, but it was found that there was no memory card inside the hidden camera. It was determined that Hüseyin K. recorded a conversation with a person registered as R.Z. on the phone, whose identity could not be determined. It was found that Hüseyin K. asked questions like, "What kind of path would they take in a possible fingerprint, etc., what would happen in that regard?"

Fingerprint identified

In the expert report prepared by the crime scene investigation teams, it was determined that the fingerprint obtained from the light bulb to which the hidden camera was attached belonged to Tansel S. It was stated that the suspects acted in concert and committed the crimes attributed to them separately.

'I don't know why the photo of the light bulb is on my phone'

In his statement, Hüseyin K. said, "The bungalow in question belongs to me. Since I was dealing with the customer of the other bungalow, I asked my friend Tansel, who happened to be there, to deal with the complainant. Tansel has no connection to the incident. I have no involvement with the hidden camera. I did not install the hidden camera. Both bungalows have empty central lamps for lighting. I used to leave a spare bulb for customers because the electricity was frequently cut off. I don't know why the photo of the light bulb is on my phone."

'I did not enter the bungalow'

Detained suspect Tansel S. stated in his testimony, "I used to visit the bungalow occasionally. I was not involved in the facility's operations. I have no partnership with Hüseyin regarding the bungalow business. On the day of the incident, I welcomed the customers coming to the bungalow at Hüseyin's request. I took the payment to send it to him. I did not enter the bungalow. I do not think Hüseyin has previously engaged in actions like installing cameras. I have never gone up to the upper floor of the bungalow. I do not know how my fingerprint ended up on the light bulb. I do not know anything about the matter. I helped with some issues during the construction phase, but that construction was a year ago. I do not accept the charges against me," he said.
