BAHRAIN'S CALL ON THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ

In a statement from the Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was expressed, "We are deeply concerned about Iran's threats to close the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation in violation of international law and maritime law. This situation poses a serious threat to navigation security in the Gulf region."

The statement indicated that this is "a serious escalation that threatens regional stability and international peace," and emphasized that "a determined international response is needed to protect the freedom of international maritime transport in this region, which is of extremely strategic importance for all countries and vital interests around the world."

"UN MUST FULFILL ITS LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES"

The statement highlighted the importance of "ensuring the protection of international maritime transport and securing the oil supply and global trade through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait," reiterating "the importance for countries affected by this potential closure to take action to strengthen maritime security initiatives and adhere to international law and procedures governing navigation freedom."

Bahrain also called for the "UN Security Council to fulfill its legal responsibilities regarding Iran's threats to close international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, considering that it could lead to significant losses in the global economy."

WHAT HAPPENED?

While the military attacks initiated by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28 and Iran's retaliatory attacks continue, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that the Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed to vessels associated with these countries.
