After the retirement of the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Council of State, Nevzat Özgür, an election was held in the General Assembly of the Council of State. In the election, Cevdet Erkan, who received 63 votes out of the 112 members of the Council of State, was elected as the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Council of State. Other candidates Yüksel Öztürk received 27 votes, and Ahmet Saraç received 12 votes. WHO IS CEVDET ERKAN?Cevdet Erkan was born in 1967 in the Vakfıkebir district of Trabzon and graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University in 1988. Erkan, who started his career in 1993, served as a member of the administrative courts in Trabzon, Van, Zonguldak, and Samsun, as well as the presidency of the administrative courts in Erzurum and Samsun, and the presidency of the Kayseri Regional Administrative Court. Erkan, who was elected as a member of the Council of State in 2014, served as the Secretary General of the Council of State from February 11, 2019, to September 10, 2020.
