A bill to grant a holiday bonus of 4,000 TL to retirees has been approved by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). It is estimated that the new consistent holiday bonus may be deposited into accounts this week.

The article containing the regulation for increasing the holiday bonuses for retirees to 4 thousand lira has been accepted by the TBMM Planning and Budget Commission.

HOLIDAY BONUSES WILL BE PAID AS 4 THOUSAND LIRA

With the article added to the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law on May 11, 2018, a regulation was made to pay 1000 lira holiday bonuses to those who receive income and monthly payments from the Social Security Institution during Ramadan and Kurban Bayramı. Finally, the holiday bonus, which was raised to 3 thousand lira on March 2, 2024, will be paid as 4 thousand lira during Ramadan and Kurban Bayramı with the enactment of the law proposal. It is estimated that the 1000 lira increase in the holiday bonus will create an additional cost of 28.4 billion lira to the 2025 budget.

HOLIDAY BONUSES WILL BE PAID TO 15.5 MILLION PEOPLE

Since the payment will be made from a single file that allows the highest payment for those receiving monthly and/or income from multiple files, the number of people to receive the bonus is projected to be 15.5 million. With the proposal, the tolls for foreign-registered vehicles that pass without paying the tolls on highways will be collected at customs gates before leaving the country, including the toll and any fines. It is estimated that approximately 5 million dollars in revenue will be generated annually, as 60% of the amount obtained will be recorded as revenue to the general budget as a service fee.
