CHAIN ACCIDENT INVOLVING 30 VEHICLES

A chain traffic accident occurred in the direction of Van-Erciş in the morning hours, affected by heavy fog and icing. Upon notification, health, gendarmerie, police, AFAD, fire brigade, and highway teams were dispatched to the area. While the teams were intervening, a second chain traffic accident occurred in the direction of Erciş-Van near the accident site. According to initial determinations, 2 people died and 15 were injured in the traffic accidents involving approximately 30 vehicles, and the road was closed to traffic.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR

Governor Ozan Balcı stated that two separate chain traffic accidents occurred on the road. Balcı noted that according to initial determinations, 2 people died and 15 were injured, saying, "Immediately after the notification, all our teams were directed to the accident site. Our teams are currently continuing their work to transport the injured to hospitals and to remove the vehicles involved in the accident. The road is closed to traffic. The road will be opened to traffic after the vehicles are removed. We pray for the mercy of our citizens who lost their lives."
