Due to a technical malfunction in the chairlift in Uludağ, approximately 40 holidaymakers were stranded in the air. With an hour of work by the gendarmerie teams, the holidaymakers were safely brought down from the chairlifts.
The center of winter tourism, in the First Hotels Area of Uludağ, experienced a technical malfunction on the Fahri Hotel chairlift, leaving approximately 40 holidaymakers stranded on the cables.
According to the information obtained; due to a malfunction in the gearbox of the chairlift, the citizens in the cabins could not be evacuated. After the incident, Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) teams were dispatched to the area. Evacuation operations began immediately.
THEY WERE RESCUED WITH ROPES
Holidaymakers who were suspended in the air with their skis were safely lowered down with the help of ropes. According to information from officials, there were no injuries reported in the incident.
It was learned that there was a high level of congestion in Uludağ due to the semester break.
