The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, evaluated the recent statements of MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli. Indicating a signal for an alliance, Özel stated, "If Devlet Bey's expectations and concerns regarding the rule of law and democratization reach a point where they cannot be pursued together with our coalition partner, we will walk with everyone on the path of democracy; I have no objection to that. For a democratic and terror-free Turkey, we will walk with everyone."
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel answered questions from Kıvanç El of DW Turkish regarding current issues. Özgür Özel responded to the question, "Devlet Bahçeli criticized you after the Selahattin Yılmaz investigation. You also said, 'Özgür, I'm telling you, my coalition partner, you understand,' what did you mean exactly? Do you see a discussion within the People's Alliance?" with a noteworthy answer.
"WHAT IS HAPPENING IN TURKEY IS UNDERMINING THIS" Özel, who said, "I do not hope for the fragmentation of the AK Party and the People's Alliance due to their falling out," stated, "There is a reality that Devlet Bahçeli insists on, which is expressed by the MHP, and emphasized by Bahçeli: the process of a 'terror-free democratic Turkey.' We value the democratic aspect as much as we do terrorism. The independence of the judiciary is essential for democracy. What is happening in Turkey is undermining this," he expressed.
"BAHÇELİ'S REACTION IS TO HIS COALITION PARTNER" Özel emphasized that Bahçeli's main reaction is directed at his coalition partner, stating, "Bahçeli has messages regarding the writing of an indictment and non-custodial trials. It is valuable for Devlet Bey to say this. If the AK Party also expresses these in harmony with its coalition partner, I don't care if there is no gap between them... A silent majority in the AK Party thinks this way, but decision-makers are not at this point. There are friends who are instructed by the AK Party and are clearing the way in politics, working in Çağlayan. They have become so blinded that they would take a photo with a White Toros. Bahçeli's reaction is directed at his coalition partner. I still stand by the same point; everyone who follows politics knows this. Considering Devlet Bey's power over the coalition, I hope he pulls his coalition partner to the point of writing indictments for these cases and starting trials as soon as possible. I have no concern like 'let them fight and fall out, we will slip away.'
