Intensive security measures were taken for the official ceremony at Anıtkabir, the first venue for the celebrations of August 30 Victory Day. Officers and non-commissioned officers arriving at Anıtkabir to attend the ceremony were allowed to enter after passing through four separate security checkpoints. The names of the soldiers participating in the ceremony were checked one by one, and thorough searches were conducted at several points.
Due to the 103rd anniversary of August 30 Victory Day, the first official celebration ceremony was held at Anıtkabir. Prior to the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and accompanying state officials, strict security procedures were implemented within and around Anıtkabir and the surrounding streets.
SOLDIERS NOT ON THE LIST...
At the first barriers set up about 200 meters from the 5th entrance checkpoint of Anıtkabir, the names of soldiers arriving to attend the ceremony were checked one by one by the police under the supervision of the Presidential security teams. Soldiers whose names were not on the list, as well as some officers and non-commissioned officers who came to the ceremony with their spouses and children, were not allowed to pass through the checkpoint.
SEARCHES WERE CONDUCTED
After the name check, the first body search of the soldiers who were allowed to pass the barrier was conducted at the second checkpoint. Officers and non-commissioned officers proceeded to the control points in the orderly area after the initial body search was conducted by hand. After these checks, the soldiers entered the Anıtkabir campus for the ceremony. It was observed that police barriers were set up not only on the streets surrounding Anıtkabir but also inside Anıtkabir for these checks.
