Following the detention of Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan as part of the investigation conducted against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), a striking claim has come to light. It has been alleged that services at the nurseries affiliated with Şişli Municipality have been halted and parents have been asked to pick up their children.
The process that began after the cancellation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's university diploma due to lack of validity and open error continued today with İmamoğlu's detention. As part of the investigations into terrorist organizations and organized crimes against IMM, İmamoğlu, along with Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık, and 84 others, were detained.
The individuals detained are facing charges of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "extortion," "bribery," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender." Following the detentions, a striking claim regarding kindergartens came to the fore.
"PARENTS WERE ASKED TO PICK UP THEIR CHILDREN"
After the large-scale operation, claims emerged that the services of kindergartens belonging to Şişli Municipality were suspended. It was alleged that the kindergartens opened by Şişli Municipality were closed. Journalist Canan Kaya shared a WhatsApp conversation sent to her by a viewer on her social media account, stating, "A viewer sent this to me. After the detention of Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, services at the kindergartens affiliated with Şişli Municipality were halted, and parents were asked to pick up their children." Meanwhile, some social media users also made similar posts regarding the issue.
"WE HAVE TO SUSPEND SERVICES FOR A TEMPORARY PERIOD"
Messages sent to parents from the kindergartens included the following statements: "Dear parents, as can be understood from the news reflected in the public, our municipality's services have been temporarily suspended, and in order to prevent our children and parents from being victimized during this process, we must temporarily suspend our services today. We respectfully inform you. Please come and pick them up as soon as possible," and "Dear parents, services at our kindergartens have been temporarily suspended, and we kindly ask you to pick up your children by 12:00 PM."
