After the Trump administration in the U.S. conducted raids in areas inhabited by immigrants, riots broke out in Los Angeles. The U.S. government is deploying 2,000 National Guard troops to the region in response to the ongoing violent actions. Wearing masks has also been banned during the protests, which are considered a serious national security threat.
U.S. President Donald Trump's Border Chief Tom Homan announced that the National Guard will now intervene in the ongoing protests in Los Angeles for the second day.
Homan stated in an interview with Fox News that they have given orders to take a new step to ensure security in the city tonight.
CONFLICTS ESCALATED
Homan, who said they would send the National Guard to the city due to the escalation of clashes between protesters against raids on irregular migrants and the police, emphasized that they would ensure security in the city definitively.
2,000 NATIONAL GUARDS DEPLOYED
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated in a written statement that California officials have "completely abandoned their responsibility to protect citizens."
Leavitt noted that Trump has authorized 2,000 National Guards to intervene in the protests, stating, "The Trump administration has a zero-tolerance policy against criminal behavior and violence, especially against law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs."
U.S. SECRETARY OF DEFENSE: SERIOUS NATIONAL SECURITY THREAT
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated in a post on X social media that violent attacks against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and federal law enforcement are aimed at preventing the deportation of illegal immigrants who have committed crimes.
Describing this situation as a serious national security threat, Hegseth emphasized that violence and destruction against federal agencies and law enforcement personnel will never be tolerated.
Hegseth noted that active-duty Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton in Southern California are on high alert and could be deployed if violent incidents continue.
CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR CRITICIZED THE DECISION
California Governor Gavin Newsom also criticized Trump's decision to send 2,000 National Guards to intervene in the border protests in Los Angeles in a post on his X account.
Governor Newsom argued that the Trump administration took this step not due to a lack of security but to create a "show."
In his post, Newsom stated, "Do not give them what they want. Never resort to violence. Make your voice heard peacefully."
It was reported that the protests that began yesterday in the city had occasionally turned into clashes between the police and the demonstrators.
U.S. President Trump's Senior Advisor Stephen Miller described the protests as "an insurrection against the U.S." and stated that they would intervene in the events.
In Los Angeles, hundreds of protesters had started a protest against the teams of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that were conducting operations against irregular migrants in various parts of the city.
TRUMP BANNED WEARING MASKS
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that wearing masks will be banned during protests against border guards in Los Angeles.
Trump stated that the National Guards have done a "great job" during the protests and said, "From now on, wearing masks at protests will be banned. What are these people trying to hide and why?"
Trump accused California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass of failing to perform their duties, stating, "These radical left protests organized by provocateurs and generally paid provocateurs will not be tolerated."
