During the 18th meeting of the "Terror-Free Turkey" commission, a decision was made by majority vote to conduct a visit to İmralı. Evaluating this decision, Ümit Özdağ, the leader of the Victory Party, both congratulated the CHP for their stance of not participating in the vote and not providing a member for the delegation that will visit İmralı, and also made a call regarding this matter.
The 18th meeting of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission was held today. The main agenda item of the meeting was the planned visit to İmralı.
COMMISSION WILL GO TO İMRALI In the "closed session" meeting, a decision was made to vote on the İmralı visit. As a result of the voting, it was decided by a majority vote to carry out the visit to İmralı. 32 commission members voted "Yes," 2 members voted "No," and 3 members abstained.
CHP, WHICH DID NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE VOTE, WILL NOT GO TO İMRALI EITHER On the other hand, the CHP, which reacted to the "closed session" decision, did not participate in the commission meeting and the vote. The CHP also decided not to provide members to the delegation that will go to İmralı.
ÖZDAĞ'S CONGRATULATIONS AND CALL TO CHP Following the developments, Ümit Özdağ, the Chairman of the Victory Party, made striking evaluations regarding the issue in a video message he published on his social media account. Özdağ congratulated the CHP for its current stance while also calling for the commission to be abandoned.
In his statement, Özdağ said: "The leader of the PKK terrorist organization, Abdullah Öcalan, stated in a recent announcement that the Öcalan commission in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey should come to visit him in İmralı, and threatened that if they did not come, the situation would turn into hell. A short time ago, the Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party, Devlet Bahçeli, made a statement saying that if the commission decides not to go, he and three of his friends would go to İmralı to visit Abdullah Öcalan. Following this, we see that the commission convened and decided to go. However, let us note as a positive development that despite making a wrong step in the commission, the Republican People's Party announced that it would not go to visit the terrorist known as Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı. For this reason, I sincerely congratulate the CHP management, especially the Chairman of the Republican People's Party, Mr. Özgür Özel, on behalf of the Victory Party. However, I believe that the next step that needs to be taken will be taken by the CHP Chairman and his colleagues, which is to no longer sit in this commission. By leaving this commission, they should come to the side of the Turkish nation instead of the Öcalan commission. I greet you all with love and respect."
