Newly leaked documents from the Epstein files have revealed unknown dimensions of the relationship between the famous philosopher and linguist Noam Chomsky and Jeffrey Epstein. The correspondence shows that Chomsky not only provided financial consulting to Epstein but also offered strategic advice to manage public pressure. The most striking detail in the documents is that Chomsky attempted to make contact with Trump's former strategist Steve Bannon through Epstein.
The extent of the relationship between the famous philosopher and linguist Noam Chomsky and Jeffrey Epstein, who died while facing sexual abuse charges, has come back into the spotlight with new documents released under the "Epstein files." The correspondence reveals that Chomsky not only advised Epstein on financial matters but also on how to deal with public pressure.
CORRESPONDENCE REFLECTED CLOSENESS
The documents released on Friday highlight the regular contact between Chomsky and Epstein. Although the documents do not show a direct reference to the events occurring on Epstein's private island in the Caribbean, it is clear that their personal closeness is reflected in the emails. The correspondence frequently includes plans for ordinary social gatherings.
GAVE ADVICE TO "IGNORE IT"
According to The Guardian, one of the most striking details is that in late February 2019, Epstein reported to a business associate that he had sought advice from Chomsky on how to cope with the "horrific treatment" he was receiving from the public and the press. The message, which is said to bear Chomsky's signature "Noam," includes the following statement:
"The best way to move forward is to ignore it. This is especially true in an atmosphere of hysteria regarding women's abuse, where even questioning the accusations is no longer accepted."
ATTEMPT TO INTRODUCE TO BANNON
The documents also include an email in which Chomsky wrote to arrange a meeting with Steve Bannon, who was the chief strategist at the White House during Trump's first presidency. Chomsky states that Epstein provided him with Bannon's contact information and uses the phrase, "There is a lot to talk about." It is also noted that Epstein had a former friendship with Donald Trump.
FINANCIAL RELATIONS AND FAMILY MATTERS
The correspondence reveals the financial dimension of their contacts. It appears that Chomsky consulted with Epstein during a dispute over inheritance and property involving his children from his first marriage. At one point, Chomsky seeks Epstein's opinion on a suggestion from his inheritance lawyer to send a harsh email; Epstein responds by saying, "Nonsense."
GENETIC TESTS AND SOCIAL CIRCLE
Correspondence from Epstein's former girlfriend Karyna Shuliak shows that they planned to send genetic test kits to Chomsky and his wife Valeria. Similar tests were reportedly sent to director Woody Allen and his wife Soon-Yi Previn. These details indicate how intertwined their social circles are.
DREAMS ABOUT THE ISLAND IN THE CARIBBEAN
In a correspondence dated 2016, Epstein asks Chomsky if he would come to New York or the Caribbean. Chomsky's response is noteworthy: "Valeria always wants New York. I am really dreaming about the island in the Caribbean."
JOKES AND CONTROVERSIAL LANGUAGE
The documents also reveal a tone of joking at times. It is reported that in response to Epstein's sexually suggestive joke, Chomsky replied, "Painful," to which Epstein responded, "So he still has feelings."
The "ignore it" advice allegedly from Chomsky is shared shortly after a federal judge ruled that the defense agreement made with Epstein, which was hidden from the victims, was illegal. Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on charges of sex trafficking; in August 2019, he died by suicide while under federal supervision. His associate Ghislaine Maxwell received a 20-year prison sentence.
Chomsky, a 97-year-old emeritus professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has reportedly been away from his duties for health reasons since October 2023.
