In Turkey, the price of gold is approximately 3,000 dollars per kilogram above global prices. Experts indicate that there is also a difference of 120 TL in the price of gram gold. The reasons for this difference include import quotas, high demand, and a scarcity of physical gold.
Gold market experts stated that gold is 3 thousand dollars more expensive in Turkey compared to international markets on a kilogram basis. Experts are concerned that this difference may grow even larger.
"THE DIFFERENCE ROSE FROM 100 DOLLARS TO 3 THOUSAND IN 2 MONTHS"
Gold and currency markets expert Mehmet Ali Yıldırımtürk said that the gap between domestic and global gold prices is widening. Yıldırımtürk stated, "Two months ago, the difference was 100 dollars, it rose to 700 dollars a month ago. Currently, there is a difference of 2,800–3,000 dollars per kilogram."
120 TL DIFFERENCE IN GRAM GOLD
Gold expert Hasan Hüseyin Deniz also noted that the difference in gram gold is approximately 120 TL. Deniz attributed this situation to both the quotas imposed on gold imports and the demand that has not decreased despite record levels.
"GOLD SMUGGLING HAS RESURFACED"
Deniz expressed that there is a physical gold shortage in the market, that gold exporters are struggling, and that gold smuggling has increased again during this process.
