Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known to the public as "Cübbeli Ahmet," criticized Egemen Bağış over Bilal Erdoğan not shaking hands with Yiğit Bulut at the funeral. In response to Ünlü's remarks directed at him, Bağış used expressions such as "someone who has an allergy to science, makes prejudgments, and sells fireproof shrouds."

Last year, Egemen Bağış, who was removed from his post at the Embassy in Prague and has not been assigned to a new position since then, came back into the spotlight due to an incident during the funeral of Yiğit Bulut, the Chief Advisor to the President. In the footage taken at the funeral, it was seen that Bilal Erdoğan, the son of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, did not shake hands with Egemen Bağış and seemingly 'skipped' him, which caused a significant reaction on social media.
A REMINDER FROM CÜBBELİ AHMET
Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known to the public as "Cübbeli Ahmet Hoca," made a striking post on his social media account regarding the incident. Ünlü praised Bilal Erdoğan's attitude and used the following expressions:
"One more reason for me to love Mr. Bilal Erdoğan from my heart for the sake of Allah has emerged; that is, when I saw the news that 'He did not shake hands with Egemen Bağış at the funeral of the late Yiğit Bulut,' I remembered the words of the late Necîb Fâzıl: 'Devout and vengeful' and thought, 'Not everyone should be a flatterer; some should hold the grudge of their religion.'
May Allah, for the sake of the hadith that states, 'The Surah Al-Baqarah will come on the Day of Judgment to intercede for its companions' (Muslim, es-Sahîh, number: 804, 1/553), make the Surah Al-Baqarah an intercessor for Mr. Bilal and grant him success in all his endeavors due to his religious sensitivities. Amen!"
EGEMEN BAĞIŞ'S RESPONSE
Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü's words did not go unanswered. Egemen Bağış, in a statement on his personal social media account, used strong language and said:
"As Hz. Mevlana said: 'I look at a word to see if it is a word, and I also look at the speaker to see if he is a man.' The comments of someone who was tested with visual digital slanders years ago and was expelled from the institution he grew up in, whose service is unclear, reminded us of the saying 'If you have a glass house, do not throw stones.' Yet, we will not lower ourselves to his level."
Bağış emphasized that he has a long-standing bond with Bilal Erdoğan, claiming that they met and shook hands at the mosque before the funeral:
"The brotherhood between our Minister Egemen Bağış and the esteemed son of our President, Mr. Bilal Erdoğan, dates back to 2002 when Egemen Bey was a member of parliament. They met at the mosque that day, greeted each other, and there are hundreds of witnesses to this."
"SCIENTIFIC REPORTS PUBLISHED AGAINST FETÖ SLANDERS"
In his statement, Egemen Bağış also reminded about the audio recordings that were previously brought up against him:
"After the FETÖ slanders, we filed a criminal complaint, had the recordings analyzed by both national and international independent audio laboratories, and it was scientifically proven that they were edited. Reports were published. But those who are allergic to science, who sell fireproof shrouds, will still object; we are used to it."
At the end of his post, Bağış emphasized that his statements were not made for polemical purposes, but for "those who are curious about the truth."
