Last year, due to the death of MP Hasan Bitmez in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Ali Fazıl Kasap, who switched from the CHP to the Saadet Party to prevent the Gelecek Saadet group from dissolving, resigned and returned to his party, stating that there was no longer a need for CHP's support following recent developments. In a statement to ANKA News Agency, Ali Fazıl Kasap recalled that he switched from CHP to the Saadet Party due to the decrease in the number of MPs in the Gelecek Saadet group, formed by the Gelecek and Saadet parties, to 19 after the death of Saadet Party MP Hasan Bitmez, in order to re-establish a group. RETURNED TO HIS PARTY WHEN THE RISK WAS ELIMINATEDAli Fazıl Kasap pointed out that the group, which had its number of MPs reduced to 19 after Nedim Yamalı resigned and joined the AK Party, was re-established with the participation of two MPs from the DEVA Party, stating that the risk had now been eliminated and for this reason, he resigned from the Saadet Party. Kasap mentioned that he submitted his resignation letter to the TBMM Presidency today and expressed that he has returned to the CHP. "THE NEWLY FORMED GROUP..."Emphasizing that the newly formed group in the TBMM no longer needs the support of the CHP, Ali Fazıl Kasap stated, "They are sufficient in number at the moment. We had already made a promise for one budget period. I believe that the newly formed group will be a strong opposition." WHAT HAPPENED?After the death of Saadet Party MP Hasan Bitmez last year, following the decrease in the party's group in the Assembly, CHP's initiative led to CHP Kütahya MP Ali Fazıl Kasap joining the Saadet Party. Thus, the Gelecek Saadet group was established in the TBMM under the name "Saadet." In order for a political party to establish a group in the Assembly, it needs at least 20 MPs. Last week, Nedim Yamalı resigned from the Gelecek Party and joined the AK Party, prompting negotiations among the Gelecek, Saadet, and DEVA parties to re-establish a group. A new group was formed in the TBMM with the participation of DEVA Party MPs Ertuğrul Kaya and Mehmet Emin Ekmen.
