U.S. President Donald Trump announced a new decision they made against China. Trump announced the decision, which will affect global markets, on his social media account.
"A MORAL DISGRACE"
Trump recalled in a post on Truth Social that China announced it would implement large-scale export controls on nearly all products, stating, "This decision affects all countries without exception and is clearly an initiative that was planned years ago. It is an unprecedented moral disgrace in international trade and against other nations," he said.
"WE WILL IMPOSE A 100% TARIFF"
Trump also announced that in response to China's "unprecedented" move, the U.S. will impose a new customs tariff of 100% on Chinese goods in addition to the existing tariffs starting from the same date.
In his statement, Trump said, "As the United States, we will impose a 100% customs duty on China on November 1, 2025, or even earlier if necessary. Additionally, on the same date, we will impose restrictions on the export of all critical software," he stated.
HE THREATENED TO INCREASE TARIFFS
Trump made a strong statement towards Beijing early Friday, threatening to increase tariffs on China and cancel the planned meeting with President Xi Jinping.
Stating that very strange things are happening in China, Trump reported that the country has begun to act "hostile" and has indicated that they want to impose export restrictions on every element of production related to rare earth elements and even on almost everything that comes to mind, even if it is not produced in China, by sending letters to countries around the world. Trump noted that this situation would "clog" the markets and make life difficult for almost every country in the world, especially for China.
THE TRADE TRUCE IS ENDING
The 90-day trade truce between the U.S. and China is set to end at the beginning of November, while mutual sanctions between the two countries have reignited tensions in trade relations. Especially as U.S. exports of agricultural and energy products have sharply declined, Chinese importers are avoiding purchasing these products.
