According to local media reports, the accident occurred at Hong Kong International Airport at 03:53 in the morning.
LOST CONTROL ON THE RUNWAY DURING LANDING
The EK9788 flight operated by Turkey-based ACT Airlines, which took off from Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport, lost control on the runway during its landing for a flight on behalf of Emirates Airlines. The plane, which collided with a ground service vehicle near the runway, was subsequently dragged into the sea.
NORTH RUNWAY TEMPORARILY CLOSED TO AIR TRAFFIC
It was reported that 2 personnel in the ground service vehicle lost their lives, while the 4 crew members on the plane were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment. Due to the accident, the north runway of Hong Kong International Airport was temporarily closed to air traffic.
In a statement from Emirates Airlines, based in the United Arab Emirates, it was confirmed that the plane was leased from ACT Airlines, stating, "It has been confirmed that all crew members are safe and there was no cargo on board." A detailed investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the accident.
