Nearly 100 aftershocks were recorded in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir following the 4.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred yesterday evening at 18:11, with the largest aftershocks measuring 4.1 and 4.4.

The district of Sındırgı in Balıkesir, which has been declared a disaster area and has experienced frequent earthquakes recently, has been shaking for the last 15 hours. A 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred at 18:11, and since that time, nearly 100 aftershocks have been recorded.

THE FIRST EARTHQUAKE OCCURRED AT 18:11

According to information obtained from AFAD, a 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the district of Sındırgı in Balıkesir at 18:11. The tremor occurred at a depth of 11.58 kilometers. Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu announced that there have been no reported negative incidents related to the earthquake to the Ministry units.

Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu stated, "As of now, there is no negative situation. I extend my best wishes to the citizens affected by the earthquake."

EARTHQUAKES OF 4.1 AND 4.4 WITH A 20-MINUTE INTERVAL

Following the 4.5 magnitude earthquake at 18:11, two separate earthquakes occurred in Sındırgı at 23:11 with a magnitude of 4.1 and at 23:28 with a magnitude of 4.4.

AFTERSHOCKS CONTINUE

According to the data from the AFAD Earthquake Department, earthquakes of magnitudes 3.9 at 02:12, 3.7 at 02:21, and 4.00 at 02:27 occurred. In the district that continued to shake until morning, according to AFAD data, 100 aftershocks were recorded.
