Eight of the nine skiers who went missing in an avalanche disaster on Castle Peak Mountain in California have been found dead. Efforts to locate one skier are ongoing, and it has been noted that this was one of the deadliest avalanches.

In the avalanche disaster that occurred on Castle Peak Mountain in California, USA, the bodies of 8 out of 9 missing skiers have been found, while the search for 1 skier continues.

SKIERS CAUGHT IN AVALANCHE

Bad news has come from Castle Peak, part of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, USA, where the avalanche disaster took place. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office stated that the number of skiers previously reported as 16 is actually 15.

BODIES OF 8 SKIERS FOUND, 1 MISSING

Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon reported that the bodies of 8 out of the 9 missing skiers have been found, and the search for 1 skier is still ongoing.

Russell Greene, an officer at the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, conveyed that the bodies of the 8 individuals were found in very close proximity to each other, stating that 3 of the deceased were guides. Greene also explained that the bodies could not yet be removed from the area due to difficult terrain and weather conditions.

The Nevada County Sheriff's Office had previously announced that 6 skiers were rescued alive from the avalanche disaster.

This avalanche disaster is the deadliest in the USA since the avalanche in 1981 on Mount Rainier in Washington, which claimed the lives of 11 climbers. According to the National Avalanche Center, every winter, 25 to 30 people die in avalanches in the USA.
