In the 16th week of the EuroLeague, Ergin Ataman, who coaches the Greek team Panathinaikos, faced Fenerbahçe and reacted strongly to the chants and protests of the yellow-navy fans after the match.

''10 THOUSAND UNEDUCATED PEOPLE INSULTED MY MOTHER''

Condemning the Fenerbahçe fans, Ergin Ataman made striking statements at the end of the match, saying, ''I don't understand why, but 10 thousand uneducated Fenerbahçe fans insulted my educated 87-year-old mother. Afterwards, God helped us. Our players started making their shots, and we played aggressively on defense. God helped us, and we gave the necessary response on the court. That's it. I am really sorry for the chants of these uneducated people.''

PENALTY FOR FENERBAHÇE

EuroLeague announced disciplinary decisions regarding the incidents that occurred during the matches played in the 16th week of the 2025-26 regular season. In this context, Fenerbahçe Beko was fined 12 thousand euros due to the insulting chants from the stands and the protests at the sidelines during the match against Panathinaikos.
