The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that in a drug operation carried out in Bahçelievler, the suspects opened fire, lightly injuring a gendarme. It was reported that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
During a drug operation in the Bahçelievler district of Istanbul, teams came under fire. As a result of the gunfire, one gendarmerie personnel was injured.
GENDARMERIE PERSONNEL INJURED, STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
A statement was made by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incidents. The statement indicated that as part of the operations conducted by the Eyüpsultan District Gendarmerie Command against the production and trafficking of drugs, contact was made with suspects identified as selling drugs in Bahçelievler on February 27.
The full statement is as follows: "In the planned investigation conducted by the Eyüpsultan District Gendarmerie Command regarding the production and trafficking of drugs; contact was made with individuals identified as selling drugs through an undercover investigator in the Bahçelievler district on 27.02.2026.
Upon the movement of the JASAT teams located in the area during the drug transaction, the suspects opened fire on the officials, and in the ensuing armed conflict, J.Uzm.Çvş. B. B. was injured in the arm.
Suspects H.K and O.I have been apprehended, and efforts to capture the third suspect are ongoing.
INVESTIGATION INITIATED
An investigation has been initiated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the suspects for "Resistance to a Public Officer," "Violation of Law No. 6136," and "Attempted Murder." It is respectfully announced to the public.
