In the town of Petit-Goave in southern Haiti, 25 people lost their lives in the flood caused by Hurricane Melissa.
The Mayor of Petit-Goave, a coastal town in southern Haiti, Jean Bertrand Subreme, announced that 25 people lost their lives due to the overflow of the La Digue River and the flooding of surrounding homes.
25 THOUSAND PEOPLE EVACUATED TO SHELTERS
In Jamaica, another country affected by the hurricane, it was reported that approximately 25 thousand people were evacuated to shelters. Jamaica's Minister of Education, Dana Morris Dixon, stated that 77% of the country is experiencing power outages, but the water systems were largely unaffected by the hurricane.
