Ahmet Türk was acquitted in the case that served as the justification for the appointment of a trustee to the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality.

Former Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk was acquitted in the case he was tried for 'making propaganda for a terrorist organization.'

In the hearing held at the Ankara 14th High Criminal Court, the defendant Ahmet Türk did not attend, while the lawyers connected via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS). After reading the incoming documents, the presiding judge granted the prosecutor the floor for the opinion.

PROSECUTOR REQUESTED PUNISHMENT FOR THE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIM

The prosecutor requested punishment for Ahmet Türk due to the allegations against him in his opinion. The defendant Türk's lawyers stated that Ahmet Türk is a politician and that his prosecution due to a speech he made in 2011 was unlawful, requesting an acquittal.

THE PRESIDING JUDGE GAVE AN ACQUITTAL DECISION

After the lawyers' statements, the presiding judge announced the decision, stating that the defendant Ahmet Türk's statement was evaluated within the scope of 'freedom of expression' and acquitted him on the grounds that the elements of the crime were not present.
