Meanwhile, transportation on the Old Foça-Aliağa road was disrupted due to the sea overflowing, and some vehicles were stranded for a while in certain sections.

In İzmir, the heavy rain affected not only the Foça district but also Karaburun and Aliağa. According to the data from the 2nd Regional Directorate of Meteorology, Foça received over 120 kilograms of rain per square meter, Karaburun received 50, and Aliağa received over 35 kilograms. In Foça, where the streets and avenues turned into lakes, some vehicles were also caught in the puddles on the road. Teams started working to rescue the vehicles.

Recep Yıldız (66), a married father of two living in Foça, said, "I have been living in Foça for 32 years. I have never seen such rain, such a flood. Everything is flooded, the houses are flooded." Gönül Sekitaş (60), one of the citizens whose house was flooded, said, "The waters overflowed and filled the house. The condition of our house is very bad. May God help us."

1 PERSON MISSING



Meanwhile, a frightening report came in. One person was swept away by the floodwaters in Foça. The İzmir Governorship announced that search efforts for the missing person have begun.



AFAD'S STATEMENT



In a statement made by AFAD, the following was stated: "Due to the heavy rain in the Foça district of İzmir, incidents of flooding, water inundation, and people being stranded have occurred. To coordinate the ongoing intervention efforts in the region, AFAD President Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan, along with Search and Rescue Department Head Kartal Muhcı and Emergency Aid and Infrastructure Damage Department Head Ayhan Işık, has moved to the area.



In the Mustafa Kemal Neighborhood, Fevzi Çakmak Neighborhood, and İsmet Paşa Neighborhood of Foça district in İzmir, 198 reports (flooding, information requests, being stranded, etc.) have been received due to heavy rainfall. Teams are intervening in the incoming reports. In the intervention efforts, a total of 587 personnel and 265 vehicles from AFAD, Fire Department, Gendarmerie, Police, Municipality, DSI, Highways, Provincial Health Directorate, and relevant institutions are on duty under the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP).



It has been reported that one of our citizens is missing as a result of the flood incident, and search efforts for the missing citizen are ongoing. To support the search efforts, underwater search teams have been assigned from the AFAD directorates of Manisa and Muğla, as well as the General Directorate of Security and the Coast Guard Command. We extend our best wishes to the citizens affected by the adverse weather conditions."
