FOOD DYE SCANDAL IN TARHANA

Striking results were reached in inspections conducted in Istanbul, Izmit, Ankara, and Gaziantep. It was determined that food dye was used in tarhanas sold under the label of "organic products" in Istanbul and Izmit.

In the inspections conducted in Ankara, imitation and adulteration were found in comb and strained flower honey, while vegetable oil and starch were detected in a yogurt produced in Gaziantep.

POULTRY AND HEAD MEAT IN MEAT PRODUCTS

In the inspections in Afyonkarahisar and Bursa, frauds in meat products were revealed.

In samples of minced meat börek, lahmacun, meatballs, and sucuk, poultry meat and head meat were found. The ministry emphasized that such practices mislead consumers and pose serious health risks.

FOREIGN SUBSTANCE DETECTION IN SPICES

Inspections also uncovered fraudulent production in the spice sector. Foreign substances were found in samples of thyme produced in Isparta, while tomatoes were detected in samples of sweet peppers produced in Sakarya.

INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that inspections in the food sector will be increased and continued to protect public health. Ministry officials stated that legal actions against companies engaging in imitation and adulteration will be implemented decisively.
