Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, who attended the funeral of Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, announced Ortaylı's bequest to Istanbul. Governor Gül stated that a ceramics museum would be established in Istanbul.
Recently deceased master historian, academic, and author Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı was bid farewell today in Istanbul. After the memorial ceremony held at Galatasaray University, Ortaylı's body was brought to Fatih Mosque.

Among those attending the funeral was Istanbul Governor Davut Gül. Sharing a conversation he had with Ortaylı, Governor Gül also announced Ortaylı's will for Istanbul.
Gül noted that İlber Ortaylı wanted a ceramics museum to be established in Istanbul, saying: "My teacher was always very cheerful. When I asked him, 'Is there something that needs to be done in Istanbul that you see as lacking?' he said, 'It would be great if there were a ceramics museum.' We accept this as a will from our teacher.
If God permits, during our time in office, we will also have established a ceramics museum that befits our Istanbul. I wanted to share such an anecdote with you."
