Hamza Dağ's statement on the electricity disaster:

21.09.2024 14:10

AK Party Deputy Chairman Hamza Dağ made statements regarding the electrical disaster that occurred in İzmir-Alsancak. Hamza Dağ said, "In the incident in Alsancak where we lost two of our citizens, if I were the mayor here, I would not blame others; I would take the moral responsibility upon myself."

Speaking about the incident in which two citizens lost their lives in İzmir-Alsancak, AK Party Deputy Chairman Hamza Dağ said, "In the incident where we lost two of our people in Alsancak, I thought about what I would do if I were the mayor here? I wouldn't blame others; I am the mayor of this city, and if two people died by stepping into rainwater when it rains in my city, I would say, 'I take the moral responsibility.' If AK Party mayors cannot say this when such an incident occurs, they should leave politics," he said.

In a statement regarding the agenda on Habertürk, AK Party Deputy Chairman Hamza Dağ said, "If I were the Mayor in the 'Electricity Disaster' in İzmir, I would take the moral responsibility."

"I WAS THINKING ABOUT HOW TO CARRY THE LOAD"

Dağ, who stated that he received votes from CHP voters in the 2024 elections when he was a candidate for İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, said, "You are a candidate for a place, and this city is a city where the CHP is strong. There is the voting power of the CHP there, but it is gradually losing. Nevertheless, I have received positive feedback from the community, and when looking at the vote rate and distribution by district, I received votes from the CHP base. If they hadn't voted, I wouldn't have received this many votes. The votes of the İYİ Party mostly went to the CHP, and some came to us. Some of those who voted for the CHP are not ideologically very CHP. I have been experiencing this for 6 months; we will win the election, and when you win, I was thinking about how to carry the load, not with a victorious attitude. If I were the mayor this summer, İzmir's biggest issue is traffic; I had promised to finish three or four underpasses while the people were on vacation. Therefore, I would have started working immediately," he said.

"ONE OF THE OPPOSITION'S CHRONIC PROBLEMS IS DEMANDING EARLY ELECTIONS"

Dağ suggested that the opposition should stop talking about early elections and focus on municipalities, using the following expressions: "The justification is 2.5 years from you, 2.5 years from us. Politics is not done this way. Currently, in some countries elected by democracy, it is 4 years in some, 5 years in others. The nation has given us authority. Can we say, '6 months have passed in municipalities, let's have an election'? Is there such a justification for what you said? How can you give me 2.5 years on behalf of someone and reserve 2.5 years for yourself? The local election has passed, your response has decreased. In France, does Macron go to elections because he lost social support? Is there such a justification? Here, one of the chronic problems of our opposition is also the demand for early elections. As we have heard every period, leading up to the 2023 elections, during the very difficult pandemic period in 2021, they called for early elections every day and held rallies. Early election rallies were held; we said it would be held on time. We suffered a lot from early elections. Everyone makes their plans according to these election periods. Therefore, it is wrong to make it a tradition... No matter what, a country that holds elections every two or three years becomes unstable. It is also not right to start a tradition. The early election is something that the AK Party has made the nation forget. In coalition governments, early elections were always a possibility. Reminding what has been forgotten in this period would be the greatest harm to the country. There is no early election on the agenda of the nation and politics. Making such an agenda debatable in the country causes changes in people's plans. The opposition should stop discussing this and concentrate on municipalities."

"LET THEM FOCUS ON MUNICIPALITIES"

Hamza Dağ's other statements are as follows: "I see it beneficial for this constitutional issue to be on the agenda and to be discussed and negotiated for all political parties in terms of the country. The issue of the first four articles is an unnecessary discussion. HÜDA Par has been part of the alliance, but HÜDA Par has never had the potential to direct our politics. The HDP, which is normally not within the alliance protocol but is in the alliance in terms of voting, has the potential to influence the politics of the Republican People's Party. Can we say, '6 months have passed in municipalities, let's have an election'? Is there such a justification for what you said? The argument you present is as important as what you said. Here, one of the chronic problems of our opposition is also the demand for early elections. As we have heard every period, leading up to the 2023 elections, during the very difficult pandemic period in 2021, they called for early elections every day and held rallies. The Republican People's Party says, 'We have changed, we have changed,' but the Republican People's Party is the status quo. The genes of the Republican People's Party are not open to these. There is no early election on the agenda of the nation and politics. Making such an agenda debatable in the country causes changes in people's plans. The opposition should stop discussing this and concentrate on municipalities."
