Handan Sonel arrested in Gülistan Doku investigation

Within the scope of the Gülistan Doku investigation, the statement proceedings at the prosecutor's office have been completed for Handan Sonel, wife of former Governor Tuncay Sonel, who was detained based on testimonies of witnesses working at the governor's residence and referred to the courthouse in the morning. Sonel, who was referred to the Duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace, was arrested on charges of 'destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime'.

In the Gülistan Doku investigation, Handan Sonel, the wife of former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, was arrested.

NEW WAVE OF DETENTIONS IN THE GÜLİSTAN DOKU INVESTIGATION

In the investigation into Gülistan Doku, a second-year student of the Child Development Department at Munzur University who has been missing in Tunceli since January 5, 2020, 12 of the 15 suspects detained were arrested, while 3 were placed under judicial control. In the second wave of the operation conducted by the Tunceli and Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, 15 people were detained. In an operation carried out yesterday morning, 2 more people were detained, bringing the total number of detentions to 17.

The two suspects, whose statements at the Tunceli Provincial Gendarmerie Command were completed, were referred to the courthouse in the morning hours. Among the suspects, security guard F.Ö. was arrested on charges of "aiding intentional murder and destroying, concealing, or altering evidence," while O.Y., who works in excavation, was released under judicial control. Thus, the number of detainees in the investigation rose to 13.

TWO MORE PEOPLE ARRESTED

After the procedures at the gendarmerie were completed, Handan Sonel, wife of former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, security guard Yılmaz Arslan, and Mehmet Aca, owner of ACA information technology company, were referred to the courthouse today. Aca and Sonel were arrested by the court they were brought before.

During the referral, a family relative who shouted "Murderer" and attempted to attack the suspects was restrained and calmed down by police teams.
