HE TURNED ON THE CAMERA AS SOON AS HE NOTICED
The incident took place on 29th Street in the Aksaray neighborhood of Antakya district. A concrete mixer belonging to a construction company poured concrete into the sewer line on the street. Orhan Çekiç, who noticed that the mixer was pouring concrete into the sewer, reacted to the driver and recorded the moments.
HE IGNORED THE CITIZEN'S WARNINGS
In the incident recorded by Çekiç on his mobile phone, the indifference of the workers and the driver, who ignored the warnings like "What will you do if this gets clogged, does your conscience accept this? Close your vehicle, is this clogged?" was astonishing.
THE GOVERNORATE, MUNICIPALITY, AND POLICE TOOK ACTION, FINES WERE IMPOSED
Upon the spread of the footage on social media, the Hatay Governorate and Hatay Metropolitan Municipality took action and identified the company. Police teams from the Provincial Security Directorate imposed a fine of 21,765 TL on the vehicle driver, and the vehicle was banned from traffic. During inspections conducted by the Hatay Metropolitan Municipality (HBB) police teams, an administrative fine of 191,867 TL was imposed on the company, and the company's activities were halted. The Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Works teams initiated cleaning and repair work on the relevant line.
"EVERYONE WHO DISREGARDS HATAY'S LABOR WILL PAY THE PRICE"
Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Öntürk stated in a social media post, "While we work day and night for our Hatay, we will not allow even the slightest action that harms our city. We have applied the necessary penalties to the relevant company. I warn again; everyone who disregards Hatay's labor will pay the price."
"MAY GOD NOT CAUSE HARM TO OUR STATE, THIS SITUATION WAS A LOSS TO NATIONAL WEALTH"
Orhan Çekiç, who witnessed the moments when the mixer poured concrete into the sewer and recorded it on video, said, "We are on 29th Street in Aksaray neighborhood. I saw the mixer here while coming home. They were pouring concrete into the sewer with the mixer. At first, they said it was water, then I said it was concrete. I told them to turn off the mixer, but they didn't. Due to the blockage in the sewer, water was coming to the foundations at the construction site, and that’s why they were pouring concrete. I said, how can there be such nonsense, they were deliberately pouring concrete with the mixer. May God not cause harm to our state, this situation was a loss to national wealth. May God bless our state, it did what was necessary. I thank our Mayor Mehmet Öntürk, our Governor, and the Mayor of Antakya. Fines were imposed, and the company was shut down. I am glad that penalties were given. Work is also being done, and the sewer is being opened," he expressed.
