The footage of the armed attack in which taxi driver Sefer Kaya lost his life in Eyüpsultan on Saturday has emerged. The images show the assailant fleeing after repeatedly pulling the trigger.
The security camera footage of the 18-year-old suspect who committed the murder of taxi driver Sefer Kaya, who was killed in a shooting in Eyüpsultan, has been released. The attacker, who fled the scene after the incident, was caught by the police shortly after.
SHOT AT THE TAXI DRIVER
The incident occurred last Saturday around 10:00 PM in Selanik Boulevard, Kemerburgaz Neighborhood, Eyüpsultan. According to the information obtained, Sefer Kaya, the driver of the taxi with license plate 34 TBC 07, was shot and killed by M.E.İ. The attacker fired five shots at Sefer Kaya and fled the scene.
After the police teams conducted their investigations, the 18-year-old foreign national suspect M.E.İ., who killed the taxi driver, was apprehended. It was learned that M.E.İ. broke his mobile phone to avoid being caught after the murder.
"I THOUGHT HE WAS MY RIVAL"
In the statement of the suspect, who was taken to the Gayrettepe Public Order Branch, it was learned that he said, "I was stopping on the road. A taxi stopped next to me. I thought the person inside was my rival. That's why I shot." It was also reported that the suspect broke his mobile phone after fleeing. The investigation is ongoing in multiple directions.
