Mehmet Akif Tosun, who strangled his father Tahsin Tosun to death in Konya, fled for 500 kilometers. After spending the night in the same house with his father's corpse, Tosun was caught red-handed at the Bursa bus station during an operation.
Mehmet Akif T. (39), a father of two who strangled his father in Konya, fled to Bursa, approximately 500 kilometers away, after the incident. The suspect was captured by police teams during an operation at the Bursa Intercity Bus Terminal, and those moments were captured on camera. The suspect was arrested by the court he was brought before.
THE ARGUMENT ENDED IN MURDER ON BAYRAM DAY
The incident occurred in a three-story building on Denizciler Street in the Sahibiata neighborhood of the Meram district during Ramadan Bayram. It was learned that Mehmet Akif T. was in the process of separating from his wife and had moved in with his father, Tahsin Tosun (59), who lived alone on the third floor.
On the third day of the holiday, an argument broke out between father and son, quickly escalating and resulting in murder.
HE STAYED IN THE SAME HOUSE WITH THE CORPSE
After the argument, it was learned that the suspect, who strangled his father, stayed in the same house for a day. Later, the suspect called his sister and said, "I killed my father," before hanging up and fleeing the house.
Upon notification, police and medical teams dispatched to the address found Tahsin Tosun motionless. During the medical team's examination, it was determined that he had passed away, and upon further investigation, it was established that he had been strangled to death.
CAUGHT RED-HANDED AT THE TERMINAL
Konya police, who initiated a search for the suspect, determined that he had fled to Bursa. In a joint operation by the Bursa Police Department's Public Security Branch Homicide Bureau teams and the guards known as "night eagles," the suspect was captured at the Bursa Intercity Bus Terminal. The moments of his capture were reflected in security cameras.
The detained suspect was arrested by the court he was brought before in Konya and sent to prison.
