President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation-Arab League held in Qatar.
Highlights from President Erdoğan's speech are as follows:
"ISRAEL HAS NOW TAKEN ITS OUTLAW BEHAVIOR TO A DIFFERENT DIMENSION"
"At these summits, we declared to the world that Israel's increasing aggression has now become a threat that must be definitively stopped for our region. We have repeatedly pointed out that this distorted mentality, which feeds on terrorism, poses a risk to international stability and security. Israel has attacked Lebanon, Yemen, Iran, and Syria after Palestine. It targeted civilian ships in the waters off Tunisia. It carried out assassinations of elected politicians and statesmen. Now it has attacked the mediator Qatar. The latest attack has taken Israel's outlaw behavior to a different dimension.
"AS TURKEY, I REITERATE THAT WE ARE ALWAYS BY OUR ALLY QATAR'S SIDE"
I find it very important and meaningful that we are holding our summit today in Doha. I emphasize that the world public opinion should see this meeting as a manifestation of the unconditional support of the Islamic world for Qatar. I hope that the decisions we will make today will once again declare this heartfelt sentiment of ours to the world public in writing. I am pleased to observe that Qatar is managing this crisis with dignity under the resolute and wise leadership of my dear brother Emir Sheikh Tamim. As Turkey, I reiterate that we are always by our friend and ally Qatar's side.
"WE FACE A TERRORIST MENTALITY THAT FEEDS ON CHAOS AND BLOOD, AND A STATE THAT EMBODIES IT"
It is now an undeniable fact that the main aim of the Netanyahu government is to continue the massacre and genocide in Palestine while dragging the entire region into instability without any distinction. We face a terrorist mentality that feeds on chaos and blood, and a state that embodies it. This mentality, which openly violates the United Nations charter and challenges international law and the rule-based international system, can still stand due to the impunity for the crimes it commits.
"WE HAVE THE POWER TO STOP ISRAEL"
Recently, we see that some reckless Israeli politicians frequently repeat the delusion of "Greater Israel." Israel's efforts to expand its occupations in neighboring countries are concrete manifestations of this goal. The Islamic world, with God's permission, has the resilience and capability to thwart Israel's expansionist ambitions.
The loss of balance by the Netanyahu massacre network has begun to create costs for its supporters as well. Those who unconditionally support Israel against Qatar's reckless attacks have also been compelled to react. The declarations of some countries regarding their intentions to recognize the state of Palestine are certainly a positive step. It would have been better if this had been done at an earlier stage. However, these steps will struggle to yield results unless they are supported by concrete and strong sanctions against Israel. We must intensify our diplomatic efforts to increase sanctions against Israel, and international legal mechanisms should be used to hold Israeli officials accountable before justice.
We know that Israel will not stop in the short term without facing a strong reaction and sanctions, and that it will accelerate its policies of occupation and instability. We are aware that we have the means to prevent this. It is now essential for us to reach a level of self-sufficiency in certain areas. At the forefront of these is a deterrent defense industry and development. I want you to know that we are ready to share our capabilities and experiences with you, our brothers. I believe we need to intensify our cooperation in these areas to win the next decade.
"WE MUST BE ABLE TO IMPLEMENT CONCRETE STEPS AND MECHANISMS"
I believe that Israel also needs to be economically pressured. Previous experiences show that such steps yield results. As Turkey, we have halted all commercial transactions with Israel for 1.5 years. Thus, we have waived an annual amount of 9.5 billion dollars. I also believe that support for the genocide case opened at the International Court of Justice is very important. We must also implement concrete steps and mechanisms to ensure the security of the region collectively. I believe there are things that can be done within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. We will continue to fight with determination until the state of Palestine, which has geographical integrity based on the 1967 borders and whose capital is East Jerusalem, is established. In this noble cause, we cannot accept displacement, genocide, or division.
I hope that the summit and the decisions we will make will lead to additional steps to stop the Israeli threat and that the results of our meeting will be closely followed. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the organization of the meeting."
