The Kıbrıscık district, located in the south of Bolu, is facing the risk of losing its status as a town due to its central population being below 2,000. Kıbrıscık will avoid this danger if 350 people move to the district, but the event organized to prevent Kıbrıscık from losing its town status was poorly attended. Speaking with a trembling voice at the event, Mayor Emin Tekemen said, "If we can't solve this issue by the New Year, our district is going down. Once it's too late, no one will take responsibility for this."
The Kıbrıscık district, located south of Bolu, is at risk of losing its village status due to its central population being below 2,000.
THE HALL WAS LEFT EMPTY, THE MAYOR DESCRIBED THE DANGER WITH A TREMBLING VOICE An event titled 'Let's Support Kıbrıscık Solidarity Day' was organized at the Necip Fazıl Cultural Center to prevent Kıbrıscık from losing its village status. During the event, citizens residing in Bolu but originally from Kıbrıscık were asked to move their residences back to Kıbrıscık. Since participation was low in the hall with a capacity of 600, a large part remained empty. Seeing the empty hall, Kıbrıscık Mayor Emin Tekemen's voice trembled while he spoke.
"IF WE DON'T SOLVE IT BY THE NEW YEAR, OUR DISTRICT IS GOING" Speaking with a trembling voice, Mayor Tekemen stated that they have time until the New Year, saying, "If we cannot solve this issue by the New Year, our district is going. Once it's too late, this issue will not be addressed. We must produce the necessary solutions before it's too late. We have united with all political parties, associations, and NGOs to ensure the survival of our Kıbrıscık, which is our common problem and red line. We held our first meeting in Kıbrıscık. In that meeting, our population, which was 1025, has now risen to around 1430," he said.
Kıbrıscık Mayor Emin Tekemen "I DON'T WANT TO BE THE LAST MAYOR WHO LOST THE DISTRICT" Emphasizing that Kıbrıscık citizens need to make an effort, Tekemen said, "If we can manage to handle 350 or 400 population from Bolu, the rest will be registered with TOKİ, and they will get their population registered. The main effort falls on our fellow citizens. It cannot be done by one person. For the past 3 months, my nights and days have been uncertain. It is truly a great distress for me. I do not want to be the last mayor who lost the district," he expressed.
"UNFORTUNATELY, WE COULDN'T FILL THE HALL" Expressing his sadness over the empty hall, Tekemen said, "What we ask from you is to return from Bolu with at least 350 population today. But unfortunately, as far as I can see, we couldn't fill the hall. This is a great sadness for me. I hope that if we complete this 350, I believe we will complete the rest," he stated.
