THE FAMILY WAS SHATTERED
The couple, Servet and Çiğdem Böcek, who came from Germany and were staying in a hotel in Fatih, along with their children, 6-year-old Kadir and 3-year-old Masal, fell ill during the night and were taken to the hospital. While mother Çiğdem Böcek and her 2 children lost their lives in the incident, father Servet Böcek was intubated.
THEY WERE BURIED SIDE BY SIDE
The victims of the incident were buried in Bolvadin district of Afyonkarahisar over the weekend. While the mother and her 2 children were buried side by side in Bolvadin Asri Cemetery, the painful sight in the cemetery saddened those who witnessed it.
GRIEVING FAMILY MEMBERS EXPECT THE INCIDENT TO BE CLARIFIED
Recep Yılmaz, the uncle of Servet Böcek, expressed his reactions regarding the incident during the funeral ceremony, stating:
"We are very upset about the incident; one person (father Servet Böcek) is fighting for his life. They were staying in the hotel, and I don't know what else they ate. Servet's wife touches the little girl while she is sleeping and realizes she is not moving. Then she checks and sees that she is dead. After that, they inform the hotel, and ambulances come to take them to the hospital. The boy was alive, but he also passed away in the hospital. The mother (Çiğdem Böcek) was conscious. Then our family members went there. Çiğdem asks about her husband and children, and they say 'they are fine.' Then, 2 hours later, they say 'we're sorry for your loss.' Çiğdem also passes away. My niece is currently fighting for her life. The guilty should be punished."
THE PROCEEDINGS OF 11 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY CONTINUE
While the judicial investigation regarding the incident is being conducted in all aspects, it was stated in the report prepared by the Forensic Medicine Institution that the cause of death of the 2 children and the mother could not be determined, and that the final report's examination results are awaited to determine the cause of death.
As part of the investigation, 11 people, including the owner of the hotel where the family stayed, the tradesmen from whom they ate, and officials from the pest control company, were taken into custody, and it was learned that the individuals' interrogations at the police station are ongoing.
