In the group central competitions held in Balıkesir, where athletes from 18 provinces participated, Dua Uğur, a student from Isparta Sports High School, came in first. In Balıkesir, on February 21-22, 2026, at the Şehit Turgut Solak Sports Hall, Isparta Sports High School student Dua Uğur won first place in the group central competitions attended by athletes from 18 provinces.
ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP FOR DUA UĞUR
The successful athlete previously achieved third place in the U21 +61 kilogram category at the Moldova Karate Championship, which was part of the European Karate Federation's activity program. Dua Uğur also continued her rise by winning third place in the U21 +61 kilogram category at the U21, Youth, and U21 Premier League Karate Championship held during the summer. This year, with a new implementation, Uğur experienced championship once again in the group competitions held only in the Youth B category.
'I STARTED BECAUSE MY DAD WANTED ME TO'
16-year-old athlete Dua Uğur, a student at Isparta Sports High School, said, "I have been interested in karate for 5 years. I started this branch because my father wanted me to do a martial art. I came in third in the U21 category +61 kilograms at the Moldova Karate Championship, which is part of the European Karate Federation's activity program. Most recently, I became the champion in the U21 Girls 66 kilograms at the inter-school group competitions," she stated.
'HE TOLD ME HE WAS PROUD OF ME'
After the match, Uğur expressed that she first called her father to share her happiness, saying, "He was very happy like me and told me he was proud of me. My first goal was to become a national athlete; I achieved that and became a national athlete. My next goal is to represent my country on the international stage and achieve success in European and world championships. I would like to thank my coach Kadir from Karakaş Sports Club, and my brother Ahmet, who is always there to support us during the matches. Of course, I am infinitely grateful to my family, who always support me and stand behind me," she said.
