The Istanbul Governorship issued a warning for heavy rain and storms in the evening hours. It was reported that intermittent rain is expected between 12:00 and 18:00, and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected between 18:00 and 19:00. Wind speeds are expected to reach 90 kilometers per hour.

The Istanbul Governorship warned citizens about the expected heavy rain and strong winds in the city during the evening hours, based on the latest assessments from the General Directorate of Meteorology. The governorship emphasized the need to be cautious and prepared for potential adverse conditions.

WIND MAY REACH 90 KILOMETERS

According to the governorship's statement, the weather in Istanbul will be partly and very cloudy. Intermittent heavy rain is expected between 12:00 and 18:00, and thunderstorm rain is anticipated between 18:00 and 19:00. The wind is expected to blow strongly and in a storm-like manner from the southwest (Lodos), with speeds reaching 80-90 km/h in some areas.

GOVERNORSHIP HIGHLIGHTED POTENTIAL RISKS

The statement warned against potential adverse conditions such as falling trees and poles, roof blow-offs, the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning from stoves and natural gas, and disruptions in transportation.

4-DAY WEATHER FORECAST SHARED

The governorship also shared Istanbul's four-day weather forecast with the public. Accordingly;

  • On January 11, strong rain with temperatures of 7/9 degrees,
  • On January 12, a possibility of snow with temperatures of 2/4 degrees,
  • On January 13, very cloudy weather with temperatures of -1/6 degrees,
  • On January 14, partly cloudy weather with temperatures of 5/9 degrees is expected.

RAIN STARTED IN ARNAVUTKÖY

Meanwhile, the expected rain began to show its effects in Arnavutköy, one of the northern districts of Istanbul. It was observed that the wind occasionally increased in intensity along with the rain, while drivers reduced their speeds, and citizens tried to protect themselves from the rain.
