BTP Chairman Hüseyin Baş, in his speech at the party's congress in Ankara, where he was re-elected as the chairman, made a bold statement by saying, "We can solve all of Turkey's problems in a year."
The 9th Ordinary Congress of the Independent Turkey Party (BTP) was held in Ankara with intense participation. While the only candidate, General President Hüseyin Baş, was re-elected, notable statements were made regarding law, economy, democracy, and terrorism policies during the congress.
"INDEPENDENT TURKEY DOES NOT FIT IN THE HALLS"
Thousands of people flocked to the congress held at the Taha Akgül Sports Hall in Keçiören from the early hours of the morning. Greeting the crowd that could not fit in the hall outside, BTP General President Hüseyin Baş began his speech with the words, "We requested very large halls, but they were not allocated to us. This picture is your work; Independent Turkey does not fit in the halls." The congress featured folk dances, marches, and audiovisual presentations. Hüseyin Baş, who received votes from 1340 delegates, was re-elected as the general president.
"THE FUTURE IS US, WE WILL COME"
Referring to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's address to the youth, Baş reiterated the main slogan of the congress, "The future is us": "We listened to our ancestor's call: The future is us, we will come."
"THOSE WHO MAKE THE NATION DEPENDENT ON A BOWL OF SOUP..."
Evaluating the political agenda, Baş reacted to the "soup investigation" opened against Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, saying, "Those who make the nation dependent on a bowl of soup are questioning the mayor, 'Why are you distributing soup?'" A message sent by İmamoğlu to the congress was also read.
"DEMOCRACY IS NOT THE DOMINATION OF 49% BY 51%"
Recalling that journalists, politicians, and businesspeople are being arrested in Turkey, Hüseyin Baş emphasized democracy, stating, "Democracy is not ignoring the voice of the opposition. It is not mocking the intelligence of the nation under the guise of the state's survival."
Baş stated that serious problems exist in Turkey regarding justice, economy, and education, saying, "With this structure, a true rule of law cannot be established."
"A DEMOCRACYLESS TURKEY IS BEING TOLD FOR A TERROR-FREE TURKEY"
Baş criticized the government's "Terror-Free Turkey" rhetoric, stating, "It seems that for Turkey to be terror-free, it must be lawless and democracy-less."
"WE CAN SOLVE TURKEY'S PROBLEMS IN 1 YEAR"
Speaking boldly about the economy, Baş recalled statements claiming that gold is found everywhere in the country, saying, "This country is so rich that we can solve all problems in one year with this team."
"WE ARE SETTING OUT FOR A STRONG TURKEY ON ATATÜRK'S PATH"
At the end of his speech, Baş stated the goal of the BTP: "A strong Turkey comes from a strong Turkish Nation. The Independent Turkey Party has set out from Ankara to rebuild a strong Turkey on Atatürk's path."
