While integration talks continue under the agreement reached on January 29 between the Syrian government and the SDF, the Syrian flag was raised in Ayn al-Arab (Kobani), located in eastern Aleppo.
In Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) in northern Syria, some state institutions were reactivated as part of the agreement reached between the Damascus administration and the YPG/SDF.
MAYOR APPOINTED
The Damascus government appointed Almaz Romi as the Mayor of Ayn al-Arab. A source speaking to the Iraq-based Rudaw stated that Romi was expected to go to Aleppo yesterday and that the appointment would be officially announced. Romi, from the Helence village of Ayn al-Arab, had previously served as Co-Chair of the Ecology Committee and President of the Euphrates Region Women's Coordination.
SYRIAN FLAG HOISTED
While public services and state offices were reactivated in the city, the official flag of Syria was also hoisted the day before yesterday. Flags were also raised at some official institutions and security units affiliated with the government, as well as other state offices. The agreement reached on January 29 envisions a ceasefire declaration between the parties and the gradual unification of military and administrative structures.
