Çağatay Yavuz, who lives in the Bodrum district of Muğla, reacted to the issue he has been facing by taking a shower in Bodrum Municipality Square with 5 liters of water, claiming that there has been no water in his house for 6 days.
Çağatay Yavuz, who has not had water flowing in his home for 6 days in the Bodrum district of Muğla, protested the situation by taking a shower in the municipal square with 5 liters of water. Yavuz highlighted the importance of hygiene and the problems caused by the water cut.
HE TOOK A SHOWER IN THE SQUARE
Living in Cevat Şakir Neighborhood, Çağatay Yavuz staged a protest in Bodrum Municipality Square to express his reaction to the lack of water, claiming that he has not had water flowing in his home for 6 days. Amid the astonished gazes of the surrounding citizens, Yavuz washed his hair with foam using the 5 liters of water he brought in a basin and took a shower. He then dried himself with a towel and made a statement.
"I HAVE CONTRACTED ALOPECIA"
Yavuz said: "What I did is not actually a shower, but a part of my treatment process. I have contracted alopecia. I am going through a serious treatment process. There are medications I need to take every day, and there is a special shampoo I need to wash my hair with. But guess what, unfortunately, what is missing in Bodrum? In the last quarter of 2025, there has been no water in the area where I live, in Cevat Şakir Neighborhood, for 6 days. People are longing for hygiene. Unfortunately, there are many people who do not know how to complain, do not know how to protest, and are afraid. I did not carry out this action just for myself.
"IT HAD REACHED MY THROAT"
I felt the need to do this for all our friends who are suffering from the lack of water and for all the citizens here. It had reached my throat. Normally, the water has been intermittently going and coming since the beginning of summer, but what brought me to this point is the complete lack of water for the last 6 days. I mean, excuse me, we can't even meet our toilet needs. This is Bodrum, supposedly the apple of Turkey's eye, the capital of tourism, and so on. My intention is neither to beat the grape grower nor to point fingers at anyone; but people have the right and need to get an answer."
