The General President of the BBP, Mustafa Destici, emphasized in a statement following the European Court of Human Rights' decision regarding Selahattin Demirtaş that the events for which Demirtaş is being tried should not be forgotten. Reminding that 46 people lost their lives after the calls made in 2014, Destici stated, "There is no crime of thought; we stand with the state, the nation, and the law."

After the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), the words of MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, "His release will be beneficial," and the statements of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, "This country is a country of law, we will abide by whatever the judiciary says," were followed by an evaluation from the other partner of the People's Alliance, BBP leader Mustafa Destici.

"THE ONLY SHAME ABOUT THE CASE..."

Stating that "the case that led to Demirtaş's imprisonment seems to have been forgotten, let us remind you," Destici said, "In 2014, the party of the terrorist organization threatened the Republic of Turkey, saying, 'If you do not help the PKK terrorists besieged by ISIS in Ayn al-Arab, we will start a rebellion.' Of course, Turkey did not help the PKK, and the party of the terrorist organization officially decided to call for a rebellion by gathering its central executive board. A call for rebellion was made by the so-called co-chair Demirtaş. In the ensuing events, 46 people died, and 682 were injured. Countless homes and businesses were damaged in 16 provinces. This is the truth... There is no 'thought crime' or 'thought criminal' here. The only shame regarding the case, in our opinion, is that despite the direct connection to terrorism and the terrorist organization, despite countless evidence regarding this, and despite this fact being confirmed countless times by the parties, the party of the terrorist organization was not closed by the Constitutional Court, and billions of lira were paid from the people's resources for years to the political party-like structure established by the terrorist organization," he stated.

Destici's statement is as follows:

"In the week we are in, political parties have been intensely discussing the ECHR decision regarding Selahattin Demirtaş and the requests for his release.

There are countless ECHR decisions against Turkey, and the vast majority are related to the terrorist organizations Turkey is fighting against.

The case that led to Demirtaş's imprisonment seems to have been forgotten; let us remind you:

In 2014, the party of the terrorist organization threatened the Republic of Turkey, saying, 'If you do not help the PKK terrorists besieged by ISIS in Ayn al-Arab, we will start a rebellion.'

Yes, we stand in the same place regarding terrorism.

We stand by the state.

We stand by the nation.

We stand by the law.

We stand by justice, reason, conscience, and the collective conscience.

We stand by our martyrs, veterans, security forces, and their devoted families.

We stand by our star and crescent flag, our beautiful Turkish language, the Republic of Turkey, and the Turkish nation, with its Kurds, Turkmens, Alevis, and Sunnis, and we will continue to stand here until the end."
