PRESIDENT OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS: MAY IT BE A MEANS OF GOODNESS
Speaking before the Hajj lottery, the President of Religious Affairs, Safi Arpaguş, expressed his wish that the lottery results would be a means of goodness.
Reminding that the Hajj is one of the fundamental requirements of Islam, Arpaguş stated, "Our Prophet has informed us that one of the five fundamental principles of our exalted religion, Islam, is the Hajj. He taught Muslims how to perform the Hajj by doing it himself during the Hajj season."
"HAJJ REMINDS US THAT TIME AND SPACE ARE VALUABLE OPPORTUNITIES"
Arpaguş noted that Hajj is a worship limited to certain times and places, stating, "This worship can only be performed by fulfilling certain duties at specific times in the Kaaba, Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina. This aspect of Hajj instills a sense of time and space awareness in believers. It reminds the believer that time and space are valuable opportunities in their journey of servitude to Allah."
Emphasizing that the Hajj, which contains many wisdoms and beauties, is also a journey of monotheism and unity, Arpaguş continued:
"Hajj is a magnificent brotherhood gathering where those who believe in the same book, follow the same prophet, and face the same qibla come together with great love and excitement. This unique worship that brings believers to Allah's call for monotheism instills a sense of community and brotherhood among Muslims. It unites millions of Muslims of different races, languages, colors, and countries with the same beliefs and feelings, bringing them together in unity."
Recalling that the Presidency of Religious Affairs has been organizing Hajj for over 45 years, Arpaguş stated, "Our Presidency is making comprehensive efforts to ensure that our citizens can perform their Hajj worship in the best way possible and is taking all necessary precautions to prevent any difficulties by considering all possibilities."
"THIS YEAR, THE QUOTA GRANTED TO OUR COUNTRY IS 84,942"
Expressing that it is not possible to take everyone to the holy lands at the same time due to the time and space limitations of the Hajj, Arpaguş shared the following information:
"The places of worship in Mecca, such as the Grand Mosque, Mina, Muzdalifah, and Arafat, have a certain capacity. When there is a crowd exceeding the current capacity, irreparable disasters can occur. To prevent this, a quota and allocation system is applied to all countries based on their populations. This year, the quota granted to our country by Saudi Arabia is 84,942. Approximately 185,000 of our citizens have pre-registered this year. Together with those who were registered in previous years and updated their registrations, nearly 1.8 million of our citizens have qualified to participate in the 2026 Hajj lottery."
Arpaguş also made some reminders regarding Hajj, stating, "Strict controls are being implemented everywhere, including entrances to the Grand Mosque, by the Saudi Arabian administration, and only those with Hajj visas and nusuk cards are allowed to enter the sacred area. Those without Hajj visas and nusuk cards are not permitted to perform the Hajj. Therefore, I urge our citizens not to seek alternative methods outside of the Hajj visa and not to trust those who approach them with such promises to avoid any grievances."
