With a decision made during the municipal council meeting, the Bolu Municipality expanded the powers of the Zoning Directorate. The article regarding the revision of the 'Municipal Orders and Prohibitions Regulation' according to current conditions was discussed and unanimously accepted. With this decision, the Bolu Zoning has been granted broader inspection authority aimed at protecting public order and urban aesthetics. According to the new regulation, the fine for littering or throwing cigarette butts, which was previously 14,000 TL, has been raised to 152,895 TL. The decision was announced by the Bolu Municipality.
SMOKING WILL ALSO BE BANNED IN CHILDREN'S PARKS
Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan stated in his speech at the municipal council meeting that they will ban smoking in children's parks, saying, "We are bringing this as a proposal to the budget. We say let's completely ban smoking in the areas where children's parks are located, in the areas where children's playgroups are found. We are proposing to our zoning authority to impose fines at the maximum limit allowed by law for this. For those who say 'start yourself', if the polluters, those who spit on the ground, litter, throw cigarette butts next to children's parks, or if a municipal employee is smoking, we are also proposing to cut a net salary as a penalty in the budget," he said.
