A 25% increase has been made in the prices of bread and simit in Samsun. The bread, which was sold for 10 TL for 200 grams, has increased to 12.5 TL, while the simit, which was sold for 10 TL for 80 grams, has increased to 12.5 TL for 85 grams.
The President of the Samsun Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (SESOB), Hacı Eyüb Güler, stated that they have updated the bread and simit price list and applied a 25% increase. Güler said, "The bread price list has come into effect at 62.5 TL per kilogram across Turkey on the first day of the new year, and 30 provinces have started selling bread at the new price. We did not lead this increase in Samsun. We delayed the implementation of the new price list. We increased the prices of bread and simit below the inflation rate, that is, by 25%. Bakers have made sacrifices during this process and will continue to do so," he said.
"BREAD AND SIMIT PRICES INCREASED FROM 10 TL TO 12.5 TL" Hacı Eyüb Güler, who stated that there has been a 25% increase in bread and simit prices, said, "Every day, many items are increasing in price, and labels are changing. We do not comply with the price increase policy. We act according to normal economic conditions. There is no need to play with the bread price. There are days when bakers are at a loss, at a profit, or maintaining their costs. Starting from tomorrow, the bread, which was sold for 10 TL for 200 grams in Samsun, will be sold for 12.5 TL in Samsun and its districts with the new price list. The simit, which was sold for 10 TL for 80 grams, will also start being sold for 12.5 TL for 85 grams. This price list will be applied for at least 6 months, or perhaps for 1 year, as long as there is no extraordinary increase. If the minimum wage and other costs do not increase or increase only slightly, we will continue our pricing policy until the end of the year," he said.
With the price list that will come into effect from tomorrow, in addition to the baguette bread and simit, the 2-kilogram Vakfıkebir bread will be sold for 125 TL, 200 grams of whole wheat and pita bread for 12.5 TL, 350 grams of plain pide for 25 TL, 150 grams of lavash for 12.5 TL, and 150 grams of minced pide dough for 20 TL.
