Berkin Kaya, Barbaros Reşat Gülcan, and Selahattin Aydın, who were detained as part of the investigation into GAİN Media Inc., have been arrested by the peace criminal court.
The investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against GAİN Media Inc. for "violating Law No. 7258 on the Regulation of Betting and Gambling in Football and Other Sports Competitions," "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," and "money laundering of assets derived from crime" is ongoing.
Within the scope of the investigation, the statements of the suspects Berkin Kaya, Barbaros Reşat Gülcan, Selahattin Aydın, and presenter Okan Karacan, who were detained and referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan, have been completed.
3 PEOPLE ARRESTED
Suspects Kaya, Gülcan, and Aydın were arrested, while Karacan was referred to the peace criminal court with a request for judicial control. The court decided to arrest the individuals in question.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In a statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was reported that an investigation was being conducted by the Office for the Prevention of the Financing of Terrorism and Money Laundering for "violating Law No. 7258 on the Regulation of Betting and Gambling in Football and Other Sports Competitions," "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," and "money laundering of assets derived from crime."
The statement noted that according to the MASAK report, when examining the account activities of suspect Berkin Kaya, numerous high-value cash deposit and withdrawal transactions were found, the source of the cash transactions could not be understood, Kaya's SWIFT transactions were intense, and he had made large money transfers to some companies abroad.
It was stated in the announcement that when examining the companies in which the suspect is a partner, there was no sufficient capital structure or commercial activity that could explain such large money transfers, and there was a significant amount of intelligence indicating that his accounts were used in illegal betting and fraud organizations. It was also noted that the source of the large amounts circulating in these accounts could not be explained, and it was assessed that these accounts might be used in illegal organizations.
7 COMPANIES PLACED UNDER TMSF ADMINISTRATION
In the Chief Public Prosecutor's statement, it was announced that a simultaneous operation was carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Smuggling and Organized Crime Combat Branch teams to capture suspects Berkin Kaya, Barbaros Reşat Gülcan, and Selahattin Aydın and to obtain evidence of the crime, and that movable and immovable properties deemed to be obtained from the crime were seized during the operation.
In the statement indicating that the suspects were detained, it was reported that simultaneously with the operation, a decision was made by the Istanbul Duty Peace Criminal Court to appoint TMSF as the administrator for GAİN Media Inc., GAİN Studio Production Inc., GAİN Shorts Media Inc., Anahat Holding Inc., Anahat Media Inc., 3B Software Technologies Industry Trade Inc., and Berton Construction Industry and Trade Inc.
